21G past-member Bob Banks 1960 - 2018 RIP

Trained in Fine Art at Rochdale School of Art, Newton Abbot College of Art, and Bristol College of Art, qualifying in 1962. For twenty five years was Head of Art at Devonport High School for Girls, before retiring in 1999.  He travelled widely in France and Italy and has painted aspects of Brittany, Normandy, Provence, Northern and Central France, as well as Tuscany. His later work, from 2003 to 2014, was painted around and about his home in Buckland Monachorum. His subjects in both watercolour and oil include the bridges, viaducts, moorland, rivers, trees, fields, flowers and cows found around South West Dartmoor. In each painting there is an attempt to evoke the essence of what initially moved him about the scene.
